My Story

From injury, to wonder in movement

Like many people in the UK, my introduction to yoga was through physical movement. I've always been active, but like many passionate runners, I pushed through injuries that eventually caught up with me. By my late twenties, my knees were so battered that walking up short flights of stairs was painful. The activities I loved became impossible, and I felt lost without my usual outlets for stress.

People had recommended yoga to me for years, but honestly, I never really enjoyed it. I thought it was too slow, too quiet, and frankly, I felt intimidated by the seemingly perfect bodies and pretzel-like poses I saw in magazines and studios. I was also unsure about the links to religion and philosophy.

Everything changed in 2015 when I finally visited a hot yoga class at Fierce Grace in Brixton. The heat helped loosen my tight muscles, and the knowledgeable teacher showed me how to modify poses for my painful knees. But what really hooked me was how my busy, anxious mind finally switched off. For the first time in years, I wasn't thinking about my to-do list, my insecurities, or my pain - I was just present.

As my physical practise progressed, I started exploring other facets of yoga, including philosophy and meditation.

My Teaching Journey

Fast forward to 2018, and I completed my 250 hour teacher training with Fierce Grace, learning from some of Europe's most respected senior teachers: Michele Pernetta, Emma Croft, and Karen Bellfield.

I started teaching part-time in October that year, in 4 studios in London. In 2019, I started teaching with Hotpod Yoga and running corporate yoga classes for the likes of Stack Overflow, Rightmove and numerous small startups in London.

... I started teaching full-time just one month before the pandemic hit in 2020 - talk about timing!

When all seven London studios I was teaching at closed during lockdown, I pivoted to online classes while returning to my marketing career for financial stability. For two years, I straddled both worlds - teaching yoga (my passion) and working in marketing (my safety net).

Motherhood & Discovery

In 2022, I gave birth to my first child. Yoga didn't just support me through a challenging pregnancy - yogic breathwork and meditation literally saw me through the birth itself. When post-natal anxiety hit HARD, my yoga practice became my lifeline back to myself.

Then in 2024, I welcomed my 'surprise baby' in a beautiful homebirth supported by the Surrey Hills Homebirth team. This experience wouldn't have been possible for me (an anxious person at the best of times!) without yoga. Not just the physical practice (asana) that kept my body strong and supple, but most importantly, the breathwork and visualisation that helped me breathe my baby into the world in the most empowering way I could have dreamed of.

I would love to support you through your own prenatal journey; whether it's your first pregnancy or your fifth! Learn more about my prenatal classes here.

Why I Teach

These experiences shaped my teaching philosophy completely. I know what it's like to feel broken, to think your body has failed you, to feel intimidated by fitness spaces.

I also know the incredible healing power of yoga - not just for the body, but for the mind and spirit too.

I teach because I want others to experience what I've experienced: the joy of moving without pain, the peace of a quiet mind, the strength that comes from truly accepting your body as it is today.

My teaching philosophy

Yoga is for Every Body

I truly believe this. Not just as a catchy slogan, but as a fundamental truth. Yoga isn't about touching your toes or standing on your head (although it can be great fun to do!). It's about what you learn about yourself as you practice.

In my classes, you'll find:

  • Students in their 20s through to their 80s

  • Complete beginners alongside experienced practitioners

  • Extremely athletic people and those with limited mobility

  • Pregnant women (except in Level 2 Vinyasa and Hot Yoga which are unlikely to serve you during pregnancy)

  • People recovering from injuries or managing chronic conditions

If you're working with an injury, condition or low self-esteem, please reach out to me for a discussion and to learn more about practising yoga with me.

Safe, Accessible, Empowering Yoga

I teach inclusive yoga in Surrey, London and online. Every class I teach offers multiple variations of the physical postures, and I try my best to accommodate sensory needs when it comes to breathwork and stillness. Whether you're dealing with an injury, feeling particularly stiff, or just having an off day, there's always a way to participate that serves your body's needs.

I believe in:

  • Guiding you in a way that meets you where you are today - not where you think your practice should be

  • Progress over perfection - celebrating small victories

  • Breath as your guide - if you can't breathe easily, we dial it back

  • Your body, your choice - you always have permission to rest, modify, or skip poses

  • A gentle introduction to yoga philosophy and spirituality: I invite you to explore and investigate. I will not dictate, I will not force you to 'perform' anything religious or spiritual.
